Founded in 2001, Doorstop Productions is an all-female film production company, focused on bringing strong images of women to film. Our films have been screened at film festivals around the world, from Australia to the UK, at such prestigious independent theaters as the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, and on television – from PBS to the WB. Co-Founder Stephanie Stender directed Melissa Ferrick’s music video for Still Right Here, which premiered on the front page of the Huffington Post and won Best Pop/Rock Video and Fan Favorite at the Right Out TV Music Video Awards. From feature-length documentaries to music videos, our films are characterized by a stirring blend of dark humor and breathtaking visuals, with a focus on women and queer issues.
Doorstop’s mission is to bring strong images of women to film, while allowing women interested in directing, writing, and producing films a creative, safe, and nurturing environment to do so.
